Charisios Triantafyllou

Hi there! 

My name is Charisios (Charis) Triantafyllou and I am the DC1 of SIGNATURE DN network, based in Granada, Spain.

I am a Bioinformatician from Greece with Biology background, hands-on experience with Computer Science and strong interest in Biomedical Research and Precision Medicine.

I am specialized in the analysis of data derived from high-throughput platforms, especially sequencing and microarrays. My favourite computer language is R, although I occasionally use others as well. 

Currently I ama PhD student of UGR, employed by FPS and working at GENyO, which is an institute focused on Genomics and Oncology. Apart from being up to date in every aspect, GENyO is a modern place with a cozy atmosphere. There, I am working in the group of Marta Eugenia Alarcón Riquelme, who is my supervisor, and I am focused on the analysis of scRNA-seq data from SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus). Our goal is to discover molecular patterns present in blood and tissues of SLE patients and contribute to the improvement of their monitoring and treatment, especially for those with Lupus Nephritis or at risk of developing it.

In my spare time, I mostly listen to music or play the guitar. My favourite genres are rock, metal, and jazz, but I am always in search of new genres to dive-in. In addition, I enjoy reading books, mainly categories like self-improvement, philosophy, and history, but I always appreciate a creative fiction book or a thrilling mystery novel. Last but not least, I enjoy cooking and I never miss the opportunity to experiment with new ingredients and recipes.
